words popped into my head while i was driving. by the time i got where i was going they were almost gone. insanity. my only excuse for me writing something that could be seen as romance.

"But,"

she said to him.

"You have to see.

He is the full moon,

and I am the sea.

Though I reach for your shores,

he has his claim on me.

Pause.

"Yes,"

he said to her.

"That I will understand—

he is the moon. But you are the sun—

brilliant until he raises his hand.

So I ask you, sea and sun,

After his shadow passes,

            will you still wash

                        will you still shine

                                    on my sand?"
