Want

There's a beautiful freedom in words
even when you can't say
everything you want/meant/needed to say
even when the words get lost
words set me free
they may be a cage to some
to the birds that always want to fly.
the birds that sometimes fear their wings,
though, can sometimes take comfort
in a song about love and loss.

I love a sad love song;
when there's love, there's sure to be
one happy moment - one smile -
one kiss goodnight
and it's sure to be worth it
in the end, even when hearts are broken
because there's always a mistake
to learn your lesson from

I want to fall, and I want to know
if all my preconceived ideas about love
are the truth or the lies in the cliches
and I want to believe in something -
something bigger than me,
better than me.
we all need something to believe.

I want to stay a child forever
with heart and imagination and faith
with hope and optimism and happiness
to live my life without worry or fear,
and to dive into love and pain alike
and to come out stronger
to come out smiling
and living for something more.

I want to breathe
I want to be
I want to speak
I want to share
I want to live
I want to love
I want to dream
I want to dance

I want so much more than this.
