"Night and Shadow"

The warmth of a blanket

does naught to ease

the Chill of the Evening.

The Lady of Shadow

quietly observes

The Whisp of the Night,

wandering to and fro.

These wisps of the dark

are akin in many ways.

They may not know it,

For they both hide-

Behind masks of secrets.

This thing called friendship

binds them together,

makes them thirst for adventure.

They roam the seams of reality

So close to discovering-

The doorway to another world.

If one strays from the path

the other remains to bring them back.

After all-

It is ever lonely on the path unaccompanied,

To stare and ponder life's mysteries

with teardrops of regret,

far worse than teardrops of guilt.

Perhaps one is not a very good voice of reason-

No matter, the voice of friendship is stronger.

Author's Note: Written while listening to 'Vampire Princess Miyu' soundtrack and also while pondering the bond of shadow and a friendship.
