Counting the grains of sand,
Remembering the minutes of sadness,
My eyes blink in the shadows of remembrance,
Who are you?
Standing short, with your humble smile,
I knew you, like a midnight's moon,
Seen but only to be forgotten in the beauty of a morning sun
You know me.
My pink lipstick never fades,
My dying highlights
The helplessness of my eyes remain,
Darkened by lost promises and broken hearts
The taste of your lips,
The scent of you left on my skin,
Your warmth breath on my neck,
I remember you
The silence seeping into my heart
Breaking it into a million pieces,
Never to be mended,
You stole the greatest pieces,
My trust, my compassion, my hope
And I want them back,
But it is as hopeless as counting sand.
