Alone

I am alone

threads of night

surround me

as i mourn

moonlit tears

to glisten in the dawn

the fractured

calloused heart

once torn

beats mindlessly

in the stillness

of all that once was

and all that might be

hoping

breathing

ragged in exhaustion

brimming with song

forsaken once

in the noonday sun

laid waste by

the winds that blow

a furrowed brow

marching listless

to the sound of drums

too far away to hear

i am alone

you left me

here to wait

only to wait
