The blade sat inches from her skin, her mind debated whether or not to let the cold steel of the blade run across her skin. A scream shook her out of her thoughts and she snapped the blade back into its spot, she got up and began to walk out to see who was screaming. Who ever had been screaming now lay dead on the floor, the murder nowhere to be seen. She let a scream rip through her throat involuntarily and then closed her mouth.

I wasn't afraid it was just instinct, and not only that she thought I didn't want to be pinned as the murder. When no one came running to answer her scream she decided it was time to go. Turning she ran forwards and straight into a figure covered by the shadows, she glance up at it before passing out.

The next morning she awoke in a pitch black room, and winced as she sat up. Must be a few bruised ribs. She stood up and looked around letting her eyes adjust to the darkness, Well, at least I know the room isn't empty. She pulled out her lighter and flicked it on, she had to let it go out as the light burned her eyes. "I always hated the light." She mumbled to her self, she tried it once more and walked towards the door.

He didn't know why he did what he did, he never should have saved her. Now he was sunk, and pissed to top it off. "She is just a mortal." He spat out as he sat in the other room waiting for her to awaken.

The night had been going just perfect, he killed his prey and then this mortal came out and spotted his little meal. Afraid her scream might cause some unneeded disturbance he started towards her but she moved first. After bumping into him she passed out, right under a falling neon sign. He just had to pick her up and pull her out of the 't he?

He squinted towards the door even though he could have seen it clearly otherwise. His mind hurt, he hadn't thought that hard for nearly 100 years. The fact that she was mortal and still alive bugged him. The question of 'What if she knows what I am?' Played a crossed his mind.

She found the door knob and turned it letting the light go out as she did, her eyes picked up the shadow figure once more, and she groaned inwardly. He moved swiftly and held her by her throat, "Girl what were you doing near that dead body," He hissed in her ear, "If you must know I was trying to kill my self." She snapped back in a sarcastic yet still serious tone. He released her as a small voice in his head demanded that he kill her, he was still hungry.

"The door is directly ahead of you get out." Was all he said as she rushed towards the door. He cringed as the door creaked open and a small stream of fading sunlight came in. "You are creepy," she remarked and slammed the door shut behind her. He sat down on a chair and repeatedly called him self an idiot, "You let her get away."

She ran for about two miles till her side hurt so bad she had to walk, "You are one lucky girl. He could have killed you or worse." She spoke to her self in a quiet manner as she looked around the unfamiler neighborhood. Where am I?

Later that night after finally getting home and finding out she was missing for a whole day she snuck out again. This time she found a new spot, sighing she pulled out her switchblade and sat it next to her skin. The pulled the blade and watched as a thin line of blood began to show and trickle down her wrist.

He smelled the blood running but he was unsure where it was coming from. The hunger in him drove him on to pursue the scent of blood and to take it. He was out hunting anyways, and if prey was just going to present its self to him why should he ignore it? He began to run swiftly, no mortal would be able to lay eyes on him clearly.

He slowed down as he saw her more clearly this time, and she wasn't alone. Another had found her first and was holding her by the throat, her shoulder length blonde hair hung matted with some of her blood, obviously she had been struggling.

The other vampire turned and hissed at him, as he told him give it up the girl was his. The girl took advantage of the others distraction and freed her self. He smiled and quickly went over to the other vampire, killing him swiftly. The girl who took all the time she had to run did so. He just sighed and ran after her, she had to die this time.

Once again she had to stop running only this time it was only after a few blocks. She believed and hoped that she was safe, that she wouldn't be attacked again. "So we meet again girl." A scream caught in her throat as she stared at him, this time light from a single street lamp fell on him, she fell to the floor in pain.

"Please don't hurt me! I know what you are!" She whispered to him, he walked over to her and lifted her up by her top. "You do, do you?" As he spoke to her baring his fangs she lashed out and cut him open with her nails, he dropped her and looked down at his chest. A few bleeding claw marks showed up, not only that but his necklace was missing as well.

She whimpered and looked up once more, he hadn't quite noticed that it was missing yet nor did she notice that she held it. Some one called out from their house to leave her alone, while another came out to see if she was okay. He glared at her, "We will meet again mortal." Then in a blink of an eye he was gone.

He sat on a roof not far watching the proceedings of the girl and the people of the street. Then he noticed his necklace was gone. He sighed now he was in it for sure., she had drawn blood and she held his necklace like it or not she was his master. He couldn't kill her, but then again neither could another vampire as long as she wore the necklace one other down side. he had to protect her now. "And to top it off I don't even know her name."

He looked up at the stars for a few moments before getting up to follow her home. He was surprised at where she lived, the neighborhood was rich and classy, but she didn't act nowhere near that of a snobby rich uptown girl. "How can she hate that life?" He wondered, forgetting momentarily that he was supposed to hate her. He took up post on the roof of her three story mansion. As much as he hated the sun he could bare being in it, although it weakened him a bit. "Corey you are such an idiot. You should have killed her when you had the chance."

Inside the mansion however the girl sat looking at her reflection, "You actually met a vampire twice and you lived. Not to mention stole its necklace." She looked down at the upside down cross and thought of the tall, black eyed vampire. "His hair was such a deep green it was almost black."

She giggled and put on the necklace, she smiled and pretended that she was talking to said vampire, "I demand that you come over here and kiss me at once." She began to laugh, falling silent as her window creaked open. "Ep!" She squeaked and spun around to check her mirror, it was there but vary faint. She turned around as he walked towards her. "Is that an order master?" He asked, as he looked down at her.

Her blue green eyes widened, "M...Master???" He nodded and walked closer to her taking her in his arms, "Let me go, and that is an order." He did as told, and backed away from her smirking, and made himself comfortable on her bed. She glared at him, and tried to figure out how he became bonded to her.

"Stop smirking its bugging me." Corey opened his mouth, "Yes its an order." If words could be written on his face damn would be repeated over and over. So he sat there on her bed not moving, just watching her. She stood opposite of him and glared, "So you have to do anything I say?" "Just ."

A sparkle leapt into her eyes and she opened her mouth, but Corey beat her to the quick "Although I'm not happy about this." "Well, this is going to be fun," She leaned in close to his face and smiled, "Get out" She snapped standing back up straight she pointed to the window.

He stood and got up in her face, "Yes master" he replied mimicking her. She glared at him as he faded from her sight. "Stupid fool, you need to stop acting childish." She shook her head and walked over to her bed, after flopping down on it she closed her eyes hoping to just think, never dreaming she'd fall asleep that quickly.

He sat on her windowsill looking up at the moon, wondering what it was about her that got him. He hardly knew her yet, there was something about her that bothered him already. He closed her window and took up laying on the roof.

Both were awoken the next morning by the sun, Corey almost fell off the roof in a fit. He cursed at the sun and hissed in pain at the brightness. She on the other hand threw her brush at the window as if that would make it go away. "I hate the light!" she screamed in frustration, snapping her eyes shut and still knowing it would be useless to try and go back to sleep.

Corey jumped off and walked down the street, deciding that he had better walk off his frustration, not that it would help any. As he walked he thought about a friend of his that might help him figure out what should be done. He whispered her name, "Cora" (Cl-or-a) a breeze picked up carrying the name with it.

~*~&~*~

She had been resting undisturbed for those who dare disturbed her met with her anger. She felt her self being called and searched out with her mind to find the caller. Her eyes fluttered open and she smiled, Corey haven't heard from him in a great many of years. She went to his side at once.

"So you had to disturbed my little nap?" Her voice dripped thickly of her French accent, even though she had been of Irish blood when she was alive. Her fiery red hair curled around her face as she looked at him through her emerald eyes. "I see you have mastered your mortal look once more." He stated, "What you don't like it chèri?" She frowned and tried to act girlish.

"Never said that. Listen Cora I have a little problem and you being a female and all." Cora clapped her hands and spun in a circle, "You like a some one don't you? Let me guess she is a mortal?" Corey glared at her, "No, I just happen to be bound to her. I was just wondering if you could perhaps persuade her to give you my necklace and you give it back to me. You still owe me Cora," he pointed at her as he spoke.

She glared at him, "Could have sworn I paid you back. But I'm still not going to do all of it for you. I will get the necklace, simply because I know now that you do not have it in your possession. But it will cost you to get it back in yours."

Corey grabbed at her but she moved backwards, "No touching." She sat on top of a fence "You know that most likely I won't give you your necklace back. Maybe in stead I can try to get her to give it to you." Corey stood silently, he nodded and faded away to go see how his young mistress was this morning.

~*~&~*~
Corey sat on her window sill facing outwards as the girl slept on having some how fallen back asleep, every once in awhile a sound would cause him to turn and check on her. He sighed, trying to figure out why he cared about her safety after all she should be begging to keep her frail insignificant mortal life in tact.

Scenes of him snapping her neck and her screaming in terror flashed across his mind, and then scenes of her smiling happily followed. "Damn mortal what the hell are you doing to me." He muttered, but silence only followed his mutterings until a sharp sound snapped him out of his reverie.

"What the hell are you doing in my window, I told you last night GET OUT!!" Corey turned and looked at her she spoke from two feet behind him, her hair was tousled and tear stains still showed on her cheeks. Her blue- green eyes were flashing dangerously at least as close to it as a human could get. "You are one scary bitch." He muttered to her, "What did you just call me?"

She reached her hand up and grasped the necklace, and then waited for his reply. "None of your fucking business." He snapped back loosing his patience, "Bite Me!" She snapped back, he raised his eyebrow and answered back "Fuck you," and then smirked at her, obviously not expecting her next reply.

"When and where?" she asked teasingly, he continued to smirk letting the words 'how about now' roll off his tongue and across his lips. She was a bit shocked at him and then regained her composure, "How about you just kiss me instead." "Come over here then," she pointed out the window once more not replying and then turned around, "Get out."
