Broken up upon this shore,
Nothing’s certain anymore.
What to do, who to trust,
How to do what I must.

I’m not sure where to turn,
If to my old life I can return,
So all I can do is wonder
As through my life I blunder.

Mistake after mistake,
They’re all I seem to make,
No words of a positive ilk
To bring comfort like silk.

And so I begin to think.
Closer and closer to the brink
Until I stand at the edge of it all
Making the decision to stand or fall.

In a heartbeat, that’s all it takes
To deal with all of your mistakes.
You can feel your pulse race,
Contemplating leaving no trace.

No. I shall stand and not flee!
And most of all I shall be free,
Just as I have sought all these years
As I fought through all my fears.
