Sunstruck
Some times it seems that I ve been cast adrift
The currents of this life taking me this way and that
My simple possessions churning in the surf
Bobbing like water logged bodies
I think of you but cant remember your face
The sun has burned the image from behind my eyes
Your voice is as distant as the wind
Whispering snatches of past conversations in my ear
Where have the waves taken you
Are you shipwrecked on some barren shore
Or cast away on a tropical paradise
The world lapping gently at your feet
Gone to far beyond the shore line
I can only drift with my sun-touched thoughts
As the waves rise up to tower above me
Sending my belongings to the bottom to churn amongst the sharks
But hey ,
I'm alive
And dreaming of whiter shores
