Losing what
little was left
from a moment of
clarity long since past
crouches huddled today
where your voice hasn't wept

a loss so real it almost
breaths the same air that
beckons me speak out in
tides that ebb with your leaving

why i stand on your shore
explains not why i bleed
in your silence as dreams
are painfully laid waste again

why your doors remain closed
only whispers cautiously for us
to tread softly on ice too thin
to hold any dreams that remain

confusion on your behalf
helps not in the slightest
though reminders so simple
cannot seem to cry loud enough

ocean waves on wounds
neither of us could prevent
means only that i must sail
further than i ever have

why i end up here from
time to time is a mystery
neither of us can explain
though it brings a smile to
your eyes and a blow to my heart

yet another gentle storm
has broken on the sea
not too long since the last
and i still lay burning beneath
