We have a certain schedule we follow each day, a certain cycle. That which we do each day composes our "life". Every single activity is a fragment. It all creates a world. After a long day, we arrive home and eventually, go to sleep. There are different phases of sleep. Throughout the phases, something wonderful and even magical occurs: we obtain the power to dream.
The most vivid dreams occur during a type of sleep called Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep, which occurs every 90-100 minutes, 3 to 4 times a night. It is a separate world, an alternate reality.
The common phrase, "in your dreams" , actually depicts the obvious message that i'm trying to convey: Dreams open up the possibility for all which reality does not allow at the present moment. There are no limits set in your dreams, no barriers. As E.M. Cioran once said,
"Anyone can escape into sleep, we are all geniuses when we dream, the butcher's the poet's equal there". If only dreams were reality. Most often, we dream of that which we hope would happen. We wonder what the world would be like if pleasant dreams took over reality, if the world was ruled by our own wishes and fancies. What kind of universe would that be?
A healthy night's sleep varies from 8-10 hours. That is a 1/3, and even more of a day, which brings one thing to mind: do you know how much we could accomplish in that time? Oh but we do. Dreams blaze a beacon of hope and inspiration. According to the Associaton for the Study of Dreams, many find that dreams can aid them in solving problems. Furthemore, artists, writers, and scientists often get creative ideas from dreams.
After even a little analysis, I now begin to wonder,
What if it's all an extreme mistake? What if that phrase, "nothing is as it seems"
actually applies here? what if this world which we consider "real" is the wrong one? Can that which we refer to as a "dream" actually be the quintessence of reality?
"Reality is wrong. Dreams are for real."
