How Brass Are You?

by : epiphanies AKA Emily Burns

How brass are you

that you can look into the eyes of mirth

and see a sunset

beading magnificently across a sky

of speckled grey

and frayed cotton dress shirts

How bold are you

that you can breathe the colour of the sand

and have the footsteps of a wild doe

and wear the prowling smirk of a lioness

How brash are you

that you can stick a needle in my arm

and smile

make my world crimson

dashed with ebony piano keys

and decapitated daisies

How brave are you

that you can ride a carpet

hand pick the stars and

sprinkle them in my hair as

I close my eyes

How bare are you

that I can tell you're there

without a blink or a breath

that you hold my shoulders

point my toes

let me dive into the pool of my nightmares

off of a cursed ship in the ocean

of the damned.

How brass are you?
