The rage burns on inside my soul

I know one day I must forgive him too,
Must quench the flame of rage now leaping high –
This is the hardest task – for he hurt you.

Red-hot the hatred burns me through and through,
With clouds of smoke besmears my branded sky –
I know one day I must forgive him too.

I have received forgiveness, touched what's true,
Forgiven deaths that others made me die –
This is the hardest task – for he hurt you.

Like oil that only feeds the flames anew
Are all the tears of loving pain I cry –
I know one day I must forgive him too.

Since from my love for you this anger grew,
I must transform it back to love, must try –
This is the hardest task – for he hurt you.

Could scarcely feel more hate than now I do,
If me, not you, his stabs had forced to die –
I know one day I must forgive him too –
This is the hardest task – for he hurt you.
