Winter Endings
Dark winter clouds
Hang overhead
The black trees
That hide
Within the night
Creek against the wind
That freezes upon
It's very touch
Everything is
A total contrast
From the snow
The innocent white
To the darkness
Of winter's eternal night
The Darkening clouds
Comes forth
The light
Snow covers
That built by man
Snowing over
The freeways
Leaving the cities
As only structures
Covered in mountains of white
Flickering yellow lights
Left behind
The frozen morning
And permafrost nights
Everything so perfect
In natures own way
Wind of winter
Howls against
The window pane
Trapped within
The open court yard
Snow never touching
The golden brown ground
The Christmas music
Can be heard
From anywhere
Spirits are risen
No matter what the mood
The soft chime
Of bells
Far in the distance
Upon the otherside
Of the barren city
The lone man
Working within
The snowed in church
The icy bells
Send icicles to the ground
A shattering sound
Echos
Through the darkness
Of winter's night
Turning to the light
Of the coming Spring
People live within
Their homes
Fires burning
Within the hearth
The faint smell
Of cinnamon wafts
Through the heavy air
Windows provide
A frozen portrait
Of the white and dark landscape
That goes on forever
The windowpane
Mists like rain
During an early summer shower
The only reminder
Of another season
A brighter time
When there is color
Long December nights
Bring longing
For another season
That people rarely
Stop to watch
The wonder of this season
