She slid her bare feet into the sand and just rolled her head to the side as she stared out into the ocean. It misted across the beach as the waves crashed and crumbled in the tide. The sky nearly reaching dusk as she sat in her worn jeans, the knees fading to the point of breaking, the ends frayed and soaked with the salty sea water. Her mind was wandering, much like her feet wished to do so. The satly air and soft sand always seemed to make the world disappear. She slowly stood up and tugged her tight black tank top down over her slightly exposed stomach, somewhat pudgy, but still slim. She clutched her long sleeved button down around her as the ocean air whipped around her. She smiled. It's what she loved the most about the sea. The smell, the feel, the sounds, the sights; they drowned her in seduction. She walked towards the water, and let it tempt her feet as the tiny waves washed over her bare feet. Bare feet; she always prefered to be bare foot, she felt free and smirked at the saying: "If we were meant to have shoes we would have been born with them" She would probably run naked if it was legal. But surely it would cause a commotion. Running her fingers nimbly through her short choppy brown hair that had been tinted almost golden by the summer sun, she dragged her feet across the sand dragging in every single sense she could hold on to. She could almost feel him with her, but he was never there. And he wouldn't be there.

"Cloe" he breathed deeply as he held her in his arms, staring out across the horizon as the sun fell beneath the waves. Cloe couldn't say anything. She was too busy drowning herself in him. He looked down his blue eyes laughing as she just took in everything around her. His dark messy hair flying about as he laughed and grabbed her around the waist and hoisted her up over his shoulder and ran down the beach, the sand slipping between his toes. He smiled as he slowly fell to the ground with Cloe still on his shoulders.

He dropped her into the sand and laughed as the water washed over them both, drenching them completely. He looked down into her green eyes and laughed as she smiled as the salty waves rushed over them gently. "Tonight is beautiful Dyl" she breathed as she looked up at the now darkened sky.

"Not as beautiful as you" he said smirking. Cloe shook her head and laughed.

          "What?" he asked smiling.

Cloe rolled her eyes, " nice line" she said laughing.

Dylan clutched his hand to his heart and looked hurt, " ouch."

Cloe silently shook her head and slowly stood up, but Dylan grabbed her ankles and slid her back down beside him, wrapping his arms around her. He smiled as she looked into her green eyes. "You really are beautiful you know that Cloe?"

Cloe blushed. " Far from it, I'm just a chubby little artist."

Dylan look offended, " I...love...the chub" he said smiling.

Cloe closed her eyes and tried not to laugh.

" You're beautiful" he whispered in her ear and kissed her cheek as she sat in his lap waiting for the stars to twinkle brighter in the sky.

          He was gone...

          He wasn't coming back...

It was two years since the accident, Dylan was in a coma, had been for two years, there was no hope for him to wake up. His parents decided to pull the plug tonight. Cloe would be there to meet him before he left. Meet him in the place he loved the most. Cloe sat down in the sand where the waves could wash over her feet. She remembered this spot like their bodies had been imprinted in the sand for eternity. She couldn't allow herself to cry.

"don't cry love, it makes you look sad," Dylan said wiping away a few tears as Cloe sat in the sand.

"I am sad Dyl" Cloe said sobbing in between breaths.

          " Why are you sad?"

" You're leaving tomorrow, I'll be here alone"

          " I'll be back love."

" no one ever comes back"

" I'll be back, now stop you're crying, it makes you less beautiful"

" so you're calling me ugly?" Cloe asked looking up with tear brimmed eyes.

" that's not what I meant" he said, trying to laugh it off.

" you said I was ugly..."

" you're anything but ugly, love, you're beautiful, with or without the tears" Dylan said taking a breath, "I just prefer you without the tears hiding your face."

"Dylan James...are you trying to woo me?" Cloe asked wiping her tears away with her sleeve.

Dylan just smiled, " I thought I already won you over" he said leaning in and kissing her salty tear stained lips.

          No tears...

          She would cry no tears...

She'd just be hiding her face behind a curtain of satly tears that he wouldn't want. Suddenly a burst of air rushed around her. She looked down at her watch and noticed the time. The hands fell into place on the bright white clock face. They read seven. Cloe just smiled. She could feel him. She could sense him. She closed her eyes and could feel his lips on hers. And when she opened her eyes again she swore she almost saw him. She could see the wave of his arms as he blew her a kiss goodbye and faded into the surf.
