It's like every place I go
I see visions of the past
Imaginary shadows walking among.
And questions that used to have
Absolute and positive answers-
Well, I still don't know where I belong.

You're with me now
And I can't help but wonder
Why you're back from memory.
My surviving best friend
Is with me once again
As we walk around schoolyard debris.

And I need the strangest answers
And I get the strangest feeling
And rejection, sadly
Is my greatest healing.

Keep me in line
Don't let me fall into you.
Don't remind of me laughter
And the smiles that we grew.
I need a reason to keep the both of us from harm-
Did you really ever leave when you finally came back?

Your smile is contagious
When I'm already terribly sick
With a bad case of the tears and frowns.
Do you remember the time
On the park's seesaw
When you dropped me on the ground?

It's still all in my head
Do you ever miss
And remember the flicking of hair?
Do you remember basketball games
When you always teased me form?
And science class when you kicked my chair?

I'd love to have it all back
But I'm so used to being alone.
I don't know if I want to
Be the queen on your throne.

Keep me in line
Don't let me fall into you.
Don't remind of me laughter
And the smiles that we grew.
I need a reason to keep the both of us from harm-
Did you really ever leave when you finally came back?

You're with me now
And I can't help but wonder
Why you're back from memory.
My surviving best friend
Is with me once again
As we walk around schoolyard debris

Keep me in line
Don't let me fall into you.
Don't remind of me laughter
And the smiles that we grew.
I need a reason to keep the both of us from harm-
Did you really ever leave when you finally came back?
