Betrayal

In her eyes

The stars sink

Swallowed by the barren sky

She sits alone

In the lurching crowd

Laughter blood- warm churning at her feet

Swelling

To a wave that breaking over her head

She cannot smile.

When he snatched away the ground

Beneath her feet

With a word flung away

So carelessly

Flashing the world a dazzling smile

It was then she began to live her life

In silence

Stifled by a veil of unshed tears

The dying dove beating

Its frantic wings against her breast

He shrugs

Didn’t know it meant so much

It was just a bit of fun

The bird’s neck is broken

And his hands are greased with blood

It’s true

When he spoke

Her love song distorted

Rising to a scream

Her sun eclipsed

Her fountains weeping blood

But

She was not lost until

He invaded her dreams

Mellow gold- green meadows

Crimson roses

Sun steeped breathing trees

Withered as he sauntered past

Lush grass crumbling

Ashes beneath his feet

She forgets the fading colours

Leeched away by crawling shame

Her new- born anger smothered

For who can she loathe

More than her betrayer?

His hateful beauty

Rips her soul apart

The cold seas hidden in his eyes

Envelop her

He took her hope, her voice, her pride

And she fell without a cry.
