Darkness... The entire area, as far as the eye could see, had been shrouded in the most obscure darkness; like an endless sea of abysmal mist, or a horrid, gargantuan abomination of shadows. It writhed and convulsed in the most obscene manners, demonic giggles and immoral laughter flooding the otherwise silent void in a feral succession of tantalizing taunts and invectives. The twists and coils that comprised its entire being took form, in several places at asymmetrical intervals, of rending claws and cleaving fangs that were capable of ripping and tearing one’s very soul and being asunder. They thrust at their prey swiftly and mercilessly, each strike intensifying the laughter several fold as they further flayed their victim with a ravenous depravity unparalleled; that desired the tortured shrieks that soon tore through their mirth in indescribable volumes and degrees of agony.
Each miniscule moment seemed like an everlasting eternity to the abomination’s quarry, and the only liberation from this unholy torment came when a slight, pale shimmer of silver flooded over it. A long procession of hisses and screeches broke out amongst the fathomless mass of horrid and unruly atrocities, before they all vanished in a dissipating haze of ebony vapors. The light of a waning crescent moon spilled upon the bloodied landscape, evacuated and bared of the immoral wraiths and atrocities that infested the snow covered land merely moments ago, and offered it’s tainted glow to the very center of the blood splatters and blotches strewn about.
There... there in the very center of the dissolved chaos and violence; the sudden, deadly calm that had fallen, lay a small, wounded, quivering mass of frayed and lacerated flesh, displaced and shattered bone, blood matted hair and fur, and the most devastating levels of despair. The form of a frail, exposed, horrified heap of crumpled flesh, blood, and bone spilled scarlet life fluids in overwhelming abundance, melting the snow beneath and flooding the area around in the sickening smell. Upon closer inspection, one would eventually come to realize that this torn and rent accumulation of formless muscle and splintered bone had once been a child undaunted by the chaotic world about her.
The dulled shards of once deep, brilliant violet irises shifted from the darkness of closed eyes, swiveling slowly, lifelessly to the thick, yet silent fall of snow above her. Her mind had been lost long ago, devoured by the horrors that only the moon had saved her shattered and broken body from. Her small form racked and quivered with pain and anguish, glimmers of silver trailing from the violet depths of her eyes while her soft, gentle voice wavered out in the nearly silent sobs of a small child. She had once been a cheerful, jovial, seemingly strong, yet fragile creature. The mess of disarrayed limbs and appendages were once the form of a small, thin female near the coming of age, which had now been ripped apart beyond recognition.
This child, once an intelligent, unique, strange, yet endearing personality, had found herself fallen victim to the abhorrent beast that destroyed the very being of what she once was; perhaps unprovoked, perhaps not. Perhaps the cause had been nothing more but the mere essence of her desire to be left to her own world, where she could cultivate in the knowledge she already had and further develop her creative brilliance. However, such remained unknown, and she... this child, once known as Kai-chan, with her broken body, shattered mind, and rent soul, had been lost in the currents of the streams of eternity, flowing beneath the eye of a great beast that had taken upon himself her pain and anguish, to bestow upon her the gift to walk freely in his boundless realm.
