Laundry
by Ola
A/N This is a one part shot that I am posting because my mind needs to get this out of my system. There might, in the far away future, be more stories concerning those two characters. Let’s just say they’ll keep my imagination from running around campus, screaming its lungs out to be let loose. Oh oh.
So yeah, here is a rather plot-less story.
My mind was made up even before I glanced at the pile of clothes on the floor. It was a huge pile, making a shaky pyramid in the corner, and eating up quite a bit of floor space. Suffice to say, it had come to the point where my closet was completely empty except for a dust moth or two.
I grinned like the idiot I was, picked up my phone and threw myself on the bed while waiting for the dial tone. –getting all tied up in the phone cord in the process. Please don’t ask-. Finally, someone picked up!
‘Lo?
“Kieran!!”
What’s up Jeesoo?
“I need your help! You have to come over now!”
What’s wrong? I glanced at the mess again and shuddered, turning away from the horror while whispering into the receiver.
“I’m being attacked by dirty laundry…”
What?
“I’m being att…”
I heard you! But… what the hell?
“I need you to help me with it… please?” There was a growl at the other end of the line.
How many times have I shown you how to do your laundry, and work the machine? I had to actually stop and count, running out of fingers and almost dropping the phone.
Please don’t tell me you were counting… Never mind. And why are you calling me if you live three doors down? He was changing the subject! No!!
“Kieeeraaaaaan!!” I whined. He had to help me! I sat up in bed and hugged my knees, already imagining the humongous pile twitching and glaring at me. I glared right back, until a sleeve twitched and I screamed.
…Jeesoo?...
“W…what?” I panted into the phone, curling into a ball as far away from that evil corner as I could.
Don’t go anywhere. click.
As if I could, with the… the thing between me and the door. shudder. Two seconds later, there was a knock at the door. Ooooh… But how the hell was I supposed to go over there and open it? I would get eaten!! Aaah!
“Kieran?”
“Yeah. Would you just open the door?”
“I… I can’t!!”
“Why not.”
“Because… the …. it’s gonna eat meeee!!”
“Jees?” I wouldn’t cry! With a last glance at the laundry, and a mighty war cry, I flung myself at the door, heart in my socks. On the other side was…
“Kieran!!” I ran past him to hide from my room, looking from behind his shoulder, while clinging to him to keep him from moving away. With a sigh, my knight in shining armor bravely walked forth into the cave of the monster. Aka, he shuffled into my room to pick up the load of laundry.
I handed him a bag before quickly retreating back into the safety of the hallway.
“I swear Jees. One day, your laundry really will eat you up, and you’ll suffocate under its weight.” I looked at him in horror and whimpered, unable to hug him for comfort because he had the thing in his arms. With another sigh, he walked away, while I followed at an appropriate distance.
“Okay. Write it down. You turn the right knob in the position warm/warm. That’s for the water. And you turn the left one into the “high” position. Too bad they don’t have “humongous.” That would qualify for you. Anyway, you pour your powder right onto the load, and then you can add some of the nice smelling blue liquid in here. When you’re done, you close the lid, and punch this button. Got it?” I nodded enthusiastically as I heard the sound of water pouring in the washing machine. Finally! The monster has been tamed!
“Thank you thank you thank you!! I’ll do anything for you now!!” I grinned and hugged him. As always, he tolerated my antics. But that all he ever did. sigh I let go of him and sat quietly by the side of the washing machine, suddenly somewhat depressed. No, he never reciprocated any of my hugs. He did smile sometimes at what I said, but I think it was mainly because he found me either really weird, or he did it just to humor me, so I would leave him alone. It was a sobering thought. And I didn’t like it. Because he didn’t like me. No matter how nice and cheerful I tried to be. Nothing worked with him. I brought my knees up to my chest and let my head rest on them. I didn’t know what else to do about him.
Suddenly, I felt his hand on the back of my neck, gently releasing the tension there just by its warmth. It felt nice. But then, he was always nice. It was just the way he was. Nice to everyone. I pushed my head deeper into the crease of my arms.
“Hey, what’s wrong Jees.”
“N’thing.”
“Oh, come on. I know you better than that.”
“Nnnnn…”
“Jees. Look at me. I’ll do your laundry every week. Okay?”
“No.”
“What else do you want then?”
“I don’t want you to do it. You’re too nice.”
“Coming from you that scares me. Something is definitely wrong.”
sigh “You’re always nice to everyone.”
“…”
“I don’t want your pity with the evil laundry. I’ll… I’ll try to do it. I’ll… I’ll stop bothering you…”
“Jess. You’re not bothering me.”
“Yes I am. I’m always asking you for help with silly things.”
“I’ll always help you Jees. Even with silly things. For you. Always.” I turned my head to look at him, and tried a little smile.
“But I need you to do something for me first.”
“What.”
“Come here.” He tugged at my sleeve until I was sitting right in front of him. And then he wrapped his arms around me. His long, warm arms, keeping me close to him, while the evil laundry got turned upside down and drowned. The world couldn’t get any better. )
A/N I just HAVE to ask you one question: what do you think is the gender of the two characters? I have something in mind… but would very much like to hear how those two came out to be evil grin )
Hope you liked it. Please review!
