As I walk along the dusty roads
carrying the burdens of my loads
I come across a two-way path
left or right is mine to choose
Right is a path of blinding bright
while left is a path devoid of light
but I ponder a saying that tells me this
"The prettier path is easier, but no reward it offers
While the darker path is harder, but it might just fill your coffers"
However, I choose the bright
filled with laughter, riches, and delight
But I was a fool, didn't listen to my soul
and so ended up with an empty bowl
I meandered aimlessly around
seeing nothing but dirty ground
but I came upon a gate of black
that bade me enter for the harder track
I walked the path of hardship time
and barely anything was mine
for I was plagued by thieves and fowl
and begged God please to release my soul
But He didn't listen to my plead
And so I came upon another gate bleed
I entered it, and found just there
the thoughts that had tortured me fully bare
flowing rivers swirling sky
with birds and fishes, swim and fly
No trace of robbers, crows, or lice
just the image of Paradise
And now I know
that looks can be show
and that listen inside
what the right path might be
Choose the way, left or right
the darkness or the beckoning light
but think of what might become of you
when you finally reach the end.
