Author:
Matthew James Current PM
Wrote this after seeing the Passion of the Christ. The first time I saw that movie I felt this burning desire that I wished I could have been that man they chose to help Jesus carry his cross. Alas, I am not that man nor could I ever be. So this is my hum

If only I could have been there with You,
If only I could have walked beside You,
If only I could have helped You carry Your burden,

I wish I could have been there.

I would carry Your burden for You, but I cannot,
I would share Your burden with You, but I cannot,
I would remove Your burden from You, but I cannot,

I am only a man.

Alone for a long time, I was lost,
Wandered through a lot of sad places, I was searching,
Saw so many people like myself, I was blind,

I could not see that you were there beside me for so long.

I will die for you if You ask me to,
But I will also live for You,
I will suffer for You,

You have given me Hope and the Water of Life.

Each of us walks our own path through this tormented world,
We must find our way and make our own decisions on what to believe in,
If you choose to follow Him what you see and feel will be uniquely yours,

You have given me a reason to keep on keeping on.

I have chosen to follow You,
I have chosen Hope over Despair,
I have chosen to believe in the Son of God,

You have given me a candle in darkness.

Thank you.
