The dust on that road
You dare not tread
Stings and chokes your throat,
Swirling overhead.
But there, equally away,
Some place you do not know.
You stand between them now
But you don't know where to go.
Should you leave again?
--But this last time took you back..
In your dreams where you should reign
Or stay and get it over with, attack?
These places are so far now.
This choice you've made before.
But the consequences you are endowed
-You are obliged to endure.
If you go on stubbornly
And you turn away, forget,--
You know you'll do this all too willingly;
Yet you know the sting of regret.
That forgotten memory
The same you dare not grasp
Yet cling to miserably
Is somewhere down this path.
The way you turned to last time
After you escape, your betrayal
Offers only experienced restlessness (foggy past)
Your train of thought off the rail.
So you're stuck now, in this dream.
This nightmarish second chance,
No one will hear you scream;
Your tears? The blind cannot glance.
And you shake when you finally turn,
Your choice made, set, unsure.
In the direction you choose to learn
This new lesson, that old décor.
You've made your decision,
Cry your call!
Take a step
Wavering, you fall.
Gasp, take in a breath,
Wild, take in the view.
Upon your path,
Another you.
She smiles in the dark,
You marvel at the change
That has yet to start
In your likeness, the chain.
Asks you of your decision
--she comes from where you go-
younger she is, yet with all the wisdom
that both of you will know.
A proffered hand, so small in your own
Small feet that lead you, deft,
To that place you wish to go
You're sure now: there's nothing left.
The chance is looming ahead
You leave the other behind.
There is hope now, amongst the dread
That she feels in kind.
And you cast all those things aside
And walk away with haste
All those things you wish to hide
Towards the place you live to hate.
