Past Time
8th Grade

Chapter 1 (Day 1, 2:30 p.m.)

In Nara Institute of Technology, amazing things were being developed. Today, the government was doing their annual funding check.
"This is quite a magnificent liquid, sir," said Professor Gonof to inspector Sergeant Gideon. "The liquid is -273°K or, in other terms absolute zero."
"Impressive" replied Gideon.
"Another invention is the Liquid Laser. It can turn any liquid into a laser beam and still have the same effects," said the Professor.
"So you can send the absolute zero liquid to any point in space with the Liquid Laser?" asked Gideon.
"Quite Possibly." Replied the Professor.

Meanwhile at BCCS (Bob's Community Christian School).

At a Christian school a new 8th grader was enrolled. The student, Male Dorgan wanted to stay out of trouble. It was his first day at the school; so far he managed to make one friend already, Dustin Aomigue.
"Well, it's been nice talking to you Dustin. But, I've got to get to class."
Male had just finished talking to Dustin when he heard some laughing outside. Male went to check it out. Male walked around the corner. He saw someone run but couldn't tell who it was. Male looked at the brick wall. The graffiti on it said, "HERE LIES THE RED ALERT." Male saw the spray paint can and picked it up.
".And I think I heard them over here." said a voice behind him. Male knew he was in trouble.
Later he could recall what the principal shouted.
"You will not be vandalizing at this school, you are expelled!" Male was walking home when a car pulled by and stopped, its window rolled down and a man spoke.
"Are you Male Dorgan?"
"Yeah, what is it to you?" Male replied.
The stranger continued, "Come with me."
"No." Male said.
The stranger sighed. Male felt something jab into his chest. Instantly, everything got hazy. Male passed out.

Chapter 2 (Day 1, 4:35 p.m.)
"Wake up. you're. not. dead." Came a voice. Male regained consciousness. His head throbbed with tremendous pain.
"Where am I?" Male asked.
"Take this." A man handed him something.
Male couldn't tell who the man was or what he was holding. Everything was too hazy. The person pressed Male's hands against what he now realized was a cup.
"Just drink." Male brought it up to his nose. It smelled terrible.
"If you don't drink it, everything will get worse." Said the man.
Male drank it. Things began to come back into focus. Male looked at the man, he was the same person from the car!
"You!" Male gasped.
"Sorry I used the darts, I'm Brian." Said the man.
"Where am I, who are...?"
Brian raised his hand.
"You are at the Nara Institute of Technology. You've been relocated here because you've always wanted to travel through time, correct?"
"Yeah," said Male. "But what about the humongous amount of energy necessary to open a quantum tunnel?" asked Male.
"So, you've done your homework. Male, have you ever heard of the BH containment device?"
"Oh, you mean black hole containment device. That uses electromagnetic pulses to change a black hole into energy. But the closest black hole is.."
"One thousand, three hundred light years. Fortunately, the closest star's four light years away." said Brian.
"Yeah, but it's a star, not a black hole."
"Male, you're underestimating our technology." Brain continued.
"It's the SSCV, Star Super Compression Unit. Within eight years, we will be able to send you through time as an experiment."
"Me?" replied Male. "Is it safe?"
"You bring up a very good point Male."
Brian was interrupted by his cell phone ringing.
"Could you give me one minute?" said Brian. He left.
Four minutes later, alarms sounded everywhere.
"Alert, there has been a code five security breach issued." The message came from the intercom.
Brian rushed into the room.
"A code five? We must evacuate!"

Chapter 3 (Day 1, 5:12 p.m.)
In room 375; Eddie Gonof operated the latest developments in Nara. Today, Eddie was informed that an inspector was coming to see if Nara qualified for next year's funding. However, three hours into the 'inspection'; he's was held hostage. The inspector was a phony. Although, Eddy was able to set off an alarm, it did very little for him.
"Put the absolute zero liquid in the laser." Said the inspector pointing his gun at Eddie.
"Are you nuts?" asked Eddie.
"Put the absolute zero liquid in the laser, hurry!" demanded Gideon.
Eddie typed in some numbers followed by hitting the "enter" key. Eddie watched as the giant container above him poured the liquid into a cartridge in the laser.
"Aim for the sun." Titus demanded.
"That will cause it to.."
"DO IT!"
Eddie slowly turned and flipped on the switch.
"Coordinates set launch in one minute." Came from a speaker.
"If there is a God."
Eddie cried under his breath.
"Please. help me."

Chapter 4 (Day 1, 5:15 p.m.)

Nara's entrance doors swung open. Male and Brian rushed out
"What now?" asked Male panting heavily.
"Stay and watch." Was all Brian said.
Male did as he was told. After about one minute the dome on the roof of the institute began to unfold. A laser came out and was aimed at the sun.
"What on earth is happening?" Brian said as the laser started up.
"Close your eyes!" yelled Brian.
The laser cannon emitted a blue ray which lased for about five seconds. Male nor Brian saw the beam. Everything got cold.
Male shivered.
"Why's everything getting colder?"
"Oh no, the excess absolute zero liquid!"
"What?"

Hours later Brian's new car stopped to a halt in a driveway. There was a mansion in front of them. They went inside, entering the living room. Brian clapped his hands, the TV came to life.
"Channel 438." Said Brian.
The television displayed the sun via Hubble telescope courtesy of NASA.
"Great, the media's caught on already." Muttered Brian.
"What was launched from that cannon?" asked Male.
"A formula that's -273 ? K or absolute zero. So cold, matter stops."
"They shot that stuff. AT THE SUN?! exclaimed Male.
When Male said that, everything darkened. The TV turned off. After thirty minutes, the screen started ringing. Male looked at Brian.
"You have a phone hooked up to the-."
"Accept phone call." Said Brian.
"Well Brian, we have good news."
A man appeared on the TV screen. Male hadn't seen him before.
"Zinc, what's the good news?" Asked Brian.
"The dead sun left behind a 40 kilometer black hole." Replied Zinc.
"The BH containment device!" They said together.
"Hang up." said Brian.
"I'm sorry I have to do this again Male." Said Brian.
A dart hit Male in the forearm. Everything blacked out.

Chapter 5 (Day 2, 7:02 a.m.)

"Wake up! It is seven o clock, you're going to be late for school."
Male opened his eyes.
" Was it all.a dream?" Male thought.
He looked outside, the sun was out. Forty-five minutes later, he was at school. He looked outside and saw Brian! Male walked up to him.
"Brian, what's happened? Why isn't the sun out?"
Brian just stood there.
"Are you deaf Brian, answer me." exclaimed Male.
Brian looked at him.
"It's time to wake up" said Brian.
"Okay." Said a voice.
"Five. Four. Three.Two. One."
Everything turned completely black. Male felt a shocking sensation and woke up. Brian was staring down at him. Brian looked away.
"He's awake Zinc."
"What just happened?" asked Male.
"I used something called dream serum. It puts you to sleep and you can't wake up without the anti-serum. Like a never ending dream." He smiled.
Zinc looked up.
"You needed rest."
"What did you tell my parents?" asked Male.
"We're modifying their memory now." Said Brian.
Zinc looked at Male.
"According to what they recall, you were sent as an assistant to Oaks Kindergarten Camp."
"Sign the release forms here" said Brian, handing Male papers.
Male did as he was told.
"Alright, to the briefing room."

Chapter 6 (Day 2, 7:30a.m.)

"Mr. Dorgan, have a seat."
Male sat down looking around in the completely white room.
"I am Double U. I will be assigning you your equipment."
He held out a wristwatch.
"Although, this looks like an ordinary watch, it's not! It has a locating device that will lead you to the room of the incident: hold it up within three feet to any door and it works like an access card. Also, by starting stopwatch mode, you will be invisible to our security cameras, if you will notice the thin plastic layer on the bottom of the watch, it can stick to any surface. Beware however, by applying the watch to the surface, in 30 seconds it will generate an EMP so powerful it crashes any computer."
"Impressive" said Male.
"And your last piece of equipment is this,"
Double U took out a dart gun.
"This dart gun is loaded with twenty darts filled with Dream Serum."
"So, I am supposed to save the world with a watch and a dart gun?" asked Male.
"Well. yes."
The door opened.
"Are you guys almost finished?" said Brian, coming through the door.
"Yes, you're dismissed." Said DoubleU.
Brian took Male into a room Male had never seen before. In the large room was an inactive Quantum tunnel. A giant sign said DO NOT CROSS and red tape was on the floor about twenty-five feet from the tunnel.
"Put this suit on" said Brian. Male did so. The outside layer reminded Male of aluminum foil.
"And wear these boots over your shoes" directed Brian. Male put them on.
"These boots weigh a ton!" exclaimed Male.
"And lastly, the helmet. May we see each other again. It's been nice knowing you," finished Brian.
Male carried the helmet.
"Go over to Zinc, standing by the tape," said Brian.
Male did so.
"Okay, when the tunnel opens, there is going to be electromagnetic discharge and solar winds. That is what your suit is for. Now, walk past the red line." Male crossed the red line and put his helmet on.

Male looked behind him. Right above the red line was, a half red, half transparent barrier. Everything outside the barrier was frozen in time. The tunnel came to life, colors rushed out of the tunnel like a strong wind. Luckily, the heavy boots kept him from being blown away. He continued to move forward. Then it felt like he had walked off of a cliff. Male had entered the tunnel. He was being tossed like a rag doll. A ball of light was forming around him. Male passed out.

Chapter 7 (Day 1, 5:00 p.m.)

Male came to. He took off his suit. Six hundred feet away, was Nara. Male turned on stopwatch mode and grabbed his dart gun . When he arrived the main door opened. A clerk appeared.
"Who on earth are.."
Male shot a dart into her left arm. She collapsed.
"Sorry."
He proceeded to the next door, which opened. According to the watch, Male was about five feet from room 375.
"Hey, who do you..?"
Yelled a security guard. He raised a gun. Bullets began to fly; Male ducked just in time and retaliated with his dart gun. The dart struck the guard, he fell. Male heard voices from room 375.
"Please. help me."
The door opened. Gideon stared at Male.
"What the.."
Male shot darts at Gideon. As Gideon fell, the alarm sounded.
Eddy started.
"It's too late. The laser will launch any minute!"
"Get out," ordered Male.
Eddy left. Male peeled the plastic from his wristwatch, pressed it against the computer, and ran.

Chapter 8 (Day 1, 5:15 p.m.)

Male finally got out of Nara.
"There you are, Male," came a familiar voice.
It was Brian.
"Brian.what happened?"
"I came back into the room after my cell phone call and you weren't there, why?"
"Take me home, I'll explain on the way."
