FOCUS

4/15/2007

By Reginald F.

What is your focus in this life?

What is the number one focus that you live for?

Most of you may say money, power, fame, or pleasure

Little of you would say, "for a higher cause"

Why is that?

Who wants to live for a higher cause?

Is there anything beyond this life such as a higher cause?

Most people say no and little of you would say "sure"

Consider this, minds of little earth and dust...

The earth is so small that it can be placed in the sun many times over

Yet, the earth is so big that no man can explore it in one lifetime

The ocean is so vast and huge that it's depths are an endless journey of exploration

Yet, the ocean is small enough for us to travel onward to other countries and land s

Space is so huge that anything in it's vaccum will be lost forever

Yet, space is so small that we can see the nearest planet with our naked eye

And before you say, "yeah I got that" then consider this one last thing:

The sun is so small that even the blind man will see it with his senses

Yet, the sun is so enormous that our earth will fit into over a million times

"So what" you say?

If that is true, then what should your focus be?

Knowing this, should your focus be on gathering money for pleasure and game

so people who are in need will starve and die of hunger?

For fame so your name will be important and bigger than Microsoft

only to realize that you're small enough to crush with a newspaper?

For pleasuring your every need and live as though there were no tomorrow

only to realize that you could also die today by a wrong word, an STD, or a bullet to the head or heart?

For yourself and gaining the world for your own personal gain

only to realize that you've lost your family, friends, and your soul?

What's in it otherwise for you, to focus on something different you ask?

This is: everlasting righteousness before a Holy God who sees you as a guilty sinner!

Why?

Because of His standard of rigtheousness

Don't know it?

Then answer these questions before God?

Have you ever lied?

Have you ever stolen anything,

even if it's something small?

Have ever lusted after the opposite sex?

Jesus said that if you looked at someone with lust in your heart

then you commit adultery?

This also applies to the same gender, all parts

Have you ever used the Creator's name as four letter filth word?

Did you know using the One who gave you life and the ability to move

as a curse word is known as blasphemy?

Have you murdered someone?

Of course not, most likely

But did you know that whoever hates his brother commits murder?

Have you always honored your father and mother?

You love them of course, but did you know that if you dishonor them

then you dishonor God?

How about commiting idolatry?

Have you spent six days working and then resting as you should?

I know what you're saying now...

Maybe you're saying that you these aren't bad enough to break these...

That you don't believe in a Holy and Just God that will send you to Hell

for breaking His commandments and everyone gets to go to heaven.

You're saying that your god is loving and kind and won't send you to Hell?

You are absolutely right!

Do you know why?

Your god wouldn't send you to Hell because he doesn't exist.

You just made up a god to suit yourself and thus created an idol!

Did you know that the Bible says that all cowardly, unbelieving, abominable,

murders, immoral persons, sorcerers, idolaters, and liars

will have their part in the lake of fire (Rev 21:8)

Does that concern you?

It should, but I have good news for you!

Would you like to know what it is?

Jesus Christ, perfect and righteous, took the punishment

that was meant for you

on the cross of calvary

over 2,000 years ago

He suffered, bled, and died in your place

the suffering you should receive

He instead took upon Himself

God accepted His sacrifice and raised Him from the grave and death

He arose into Heaven where He has victory over sin and death

This means that the fine we are unable to pay for our sins

He paid for us

Did you know that sin requires blood to be shed and causes suffering?

Well, Christ did this so all you have to do is trust in this finished work?

Why? So you won't be judged a liar, thief, adultery, idolater, or even a murder

So believing and trusting in this truth will not only save you from God's wrath

but it will give you the righteousness from Christ, but everlasting life with God eternally

and if you focus on this, you will not be disappointed

Focus on righteousness...because in the end, its the only thing that will matter

for you and me...
