Prologue
The couple were in bed, one was awake the other sound asleep. The shadow elf didn't need to sleep, staring at the ceiling, quietly. His black haired wife stirred a bit uneasily. He turned, looking at her, his forest green eyes looking at her quietly. Her blue eyes slowly opened. In the darkness of the room, she could see his eyes looking at her.
Salyti? What's wrong? she asked, quietly.
I feel a bit uneasy, that's all, he responded. He felt a hand grasp his; she smiled.
Don't worry. Everything will be okay, dear.
No, it won't be okay, Elenwen, he whispered. I feel something's going to happen, but I haven't had a vision of what it is, yet. Her eyes grew wide. Suddenly, the light came on, blinding Elenwen and Salyti, momentarily. A group of white robed men were in the room, armed with staffs. Salyti was the first one able to see the men. Who are you? he asked, with determination.
Salyti Elentir, one of them said. By order of the Sorcerer's Council of Kabuka, we have come to arrest you.
Arrest? Elenwen asked, looking blankly at her husband. You must be mistaken--
Your charged for tampering with the flow of the future, which should not be changed or manipulated in anyway, said another. Then, a familiar face to Salyti stepped forward from the back of the group. His hair wasn't white like the others, but a deep blue, hidden by an artificial wig. A strand of his true hair framed a side of his face. His eyes were light blue.
Kaihai? Salyti asked, a bit baffled.
I'm sorry, Salyti, he said, quietly. I wasn't able to protect you for long. Two of the robed men grabbed Salyti's arms, dragging him out of the bed.
You're sentenced with darkness for a hundred years, said another.
Darkness? Salyti asked, not completely comprehending. A sorcerer placed his hands on Salyti's face, while the other two held him down.
No! What are you doing to him? Elenwen cried, grabbing for something underneath her pillow.
Elen-- Salyti began, but his voice stopped. He mouthed her name, but no sound would come out. Elenwen looked mortified, then her eyes narrowed and she pulled out the dagger from under the pillow. Two of the sorcerers went at her, as well. She fought, giving them several cuts, before they forced her down on the bed, her hands behind her and dearmed her. Kaihai watched the ground, quietly, not able to watch the scene erupting around him.
Don't you dare hurt my husband! She yelled, still struggling against the two. Salyti's vision completely went; all he could see was darkness.
Don't worry, miss, said a sorcerer, who smiled. We have plans for you, too. The two sorcerer's released Salyti's arms, pushing him to the ground. The sorcerers let go of Elenwen, for a moment, and she scrambled across the bed and to her husband.
Salyti, she said, taking him in her arms. She looked into his blank eyes. Oh my dear Salyti. I love-- The sorcerer's grabbed her, forcing her away from her husband. No! Let go! She tried to kick the sorcerers, but they forced her to her knees, keeping her arms behind her, tightly. Salyti blindly tried to reach for her, but was forced back to the ground.
Salyti Elentir will spend a hundred years without sight, sound or vocalization, said the lead sorcerer. After that, his case will be reviewed by the council. As for Elenwen Elentir, her fate has already been decided. Elenwen looked fearlessly and angrily at the sorcerers. She shall be teleported to a deserted island. Kaihai of the review council will take care of her arrangements. Kaihai looked up, at the sound of his name, quite shocked. The sorcerer nodded and the same sorcerer place his hands on Salyti's ears, putting another spell on him. Take Salyti Elentir to the fifth floor, said the lead sorcerer. The sorcerers disappeared, with the exception of Kaihai, the two holding Elenwen and Elenwen.
Fine, Kaihai said, quietly. I know of a deserted island that no ship passes by. Leave her to me. He disappeared with Elenwen.
Salyti was stripped of his clothes and was beaten. He didn't expect when the whips would hit him, which made it worse for him. It was a nightmare; not being able to see or hear or talk, but just being able to feel the pain was worse enough.
The sorcerer's forced him to his feet, after a while. They pushed him onward, as he blindly stumbled over unseen obstacles in his path. It seemed to him that he had walked forever. Finally, the sorcerers stopped him and took him into his cell. He was placed in a framed contraption. His arms went above his head, making it so he was unable to move his arms. The frame had clamps on it, fashioned to each section of the body, to hold it in place, no matter what. His feet were placed in the bottom of the contraption, and locked into it. He tried to move, but he couldn't. Even his fingers he couldn't move. He was trapped, trapped inside himself...
Kaihai and Elenwen arrived at the island. It was daytime on the small island. Elenwen glared at the sorcerer, then charged towards him.
Wait! Kaihai cried, as Elenwen bounced off the shield that he had formed around him. She looked at him, furiously. Please, listen to me, he said, calmly.
I don't want to listen to you! I want my husband back! Elenwen yelled, charging at him again.
Stop! You're only hurting yourself! She ignored him, continually running into the force field. Soon, she just plain stopped, sitting on the sandy shore of the beach, glaring at him. Now, will you please listen?
Humph.
I'm Salyti's half-brother.
What? Elenwen asked, looking at him as if he were crazy.
Salyti is my half-brother, Kaihai repeated. I had no control over the situation. If you're looking to hate someone, then it's not me, okay? Elenwen looked at the sand, quietly. I can't do anything, until the hundred years is over. That's the official time period. And I can't do anything about your current situation until the council tells me. So just calm down.
