Divine Origins
Inspired by "Loneliness in Jersey City" by Wallace Stevens
The gods grow out of the people
From seeds of belief and half-formed thought watered with myth and
dream
From the minds of mortals, reaching out to touch their realms of
authority
From the controlled mundane come the controlling divine.
The gods grow out of the people
From mans desire to be controlled and commanded by the unseen
From a desire to comprehend the workings of an unfriendly world
From the dark well of scientific ignorance comes the beauty of Olympus
The gods grow out of the people
Always remember that they came from us, while they can create, yes,
and destroy,
We have the power to remove power.
We, the people, creators of creation.
They came from us.
In the beginning there was darkness.
