He Walks with Me

There was a little boy I thought was really cool.

He showed me I fell.

I looked at him told him I didn't like him anymore.

All he said was cool and he went about his way.

Lord, I've fallen and don't know how to get up.

Here is my hand, will you pick me up, carry me through?

You can see my many masks, the things I hide behind.

If I take them off, will you protect me?

Now here comes the things I hold dear.

If I let them go, will you keep them safe?

I lay back in your arms, as you carry me along.

I begin to let go all the extra weight fall off unto the path.

I'm letting my guard down you won't hurt me?

Now as the tears begin to come, as I reach my hand to yours

I'm giving you back my gifts and talents.

Whispering to him do with them as you please.

Now I try to stare into your face.

In your eyes I catch you saying

'It' okay I'm going to help you to keep moving on.'

So, as we continue on together

I'm now on my feet holding on to your hand.

I'm afraid I may fall again.

I speak with you as we continue on.

All you do is nod.

I ask you,

Will I trust again?

Will I learn to Love?

Will I ever be what you want?

You look at me and draw me near you say,

My child I wanted you long before you were born.

I died for you.

And so, we carried on.

With two unanswered questioned.

We walked for miles, sharing things, we even laughed together.

One day you stopped me, while I was telling you a story.

You told me to look ahead.

I looked I saw nothing.

You told me to look again.

I look down the road that was once so bare, long and empty.

It still was long but it seem much shorter now.

I saw the little boy.

The one who told me I had fallen.

His eyes were focus on Jesus; his hands were out to me.

Jesus turned to me and said,

Go.

No, I can't leave you.

With pain in my eyes

He looked at me smiling,

I will never leave you.

Then again he urges me to go.

He said meet your love.

He also walks with me.

And talks with me.

I call him my own.

But, I'm not ready for this.

I can't love anyone but you.

I can't trust anyone but you.

He tells me

He is a man after my own heart.

A man who needs to learn to trust

Just like you do.

He needs to learn love,

Just like you do.

Befriend him, is all I ask of you.

Is he the one?

The one I'll stay with forever

I knew I wasn't going to get an answer right away.

But I asked anyways.

Jesus looks at me with a smile.

He takes my hand

Like he did when we first met.

He said,

I'll be taking this step with you.

So we walked up together.

Jesus walks with us

For miles

I talk with the guy

We become pretty close.

Then comes the part

Where we both need to decide

If we can trust each other

I decide

I can't

He closes himself up to me

We both realize

We could fall in love

But we don't want to get hurt.

We both look forward

We look up at Jesus

Saying with our hearts

I don't think I could do this.

He doesn't say anything

He just takes our hand

He walks with us for miles

Hand in hand

We walk and talk

Trading a few smiles

As we are walking

Jesus takes my hand

He places it in the young man's hand

Jesus looks at both of us,

Yes you can

Whenever there is trouble

Just call on me

The young man looks at Jesus and nods.

I look at them both with a bit of fear

That fear soon fades

When I remembered what Jesus already did.

I look at the guy whom use to be that little boy.

I took his hand asking,

Are you ready for an adventure?
