Aboli
Aboli stood in the cellar of his London house, he was standing over a large cauldron, sat in the middle of a pentagram, stirring at the liquid inside. The liquid was a mix of river-water, blood and powdered bone ; summoning liquid. The cauldron and the pentagram would weaken the wall between this realm and the next, the dark realm of the demons; the incantation would rip open the thin wall, leaving a hole to draw the demon out through. Aboli picked up the book that rested on a plinth infront of the pentagram and began to chant the incantation, candles lighting with a sickly green flame all around the cauldron as he chanted.
He didn't see the warped face that appeared in the cauldron, he did notice the cracks appearing in the cauldron, but the incantation had a hold of him, urging him to finish it. The cauldron now beginning to leak onto the floor through the cracks, the light in the ceiling dimmed then exploded, the candles glowed in the darkness, throwing shadows everywhere, the incantation still pulling Aboli onwards through it, the cauldron shaking now as more cracks appeared, then as the incantation finished, the cauldron exploded. The force of the explosion hurled Aboli across the room and dashed him against the wall, knocking him out instantly. Aboli never saw the creature that rose from the cauldron's remains; it had a skull-like face, thin and pinched with horns rising from its forehead and tusks curling out from its cheeks. The creature was wrapped in a blood red cloak; two wings of gigantic proportions unfurled from its back as its intelligent eyes sighted the mortal, but found him of no use. The Demon glowed then vanished, plunging the room into darkness.
Aboli awoke later, the light from outside filtered in through a small window showing him the scene before him, the smashed shards of the cauldron were strewn around the room, the pentagram was washed away in places and the candles were extinguished, the book was also in shreds, the ink washed from its pages. The demon had escaped, that was bad, and Aboli hurried upstairs to his chest of draws and unlocked them. He pulled open the bottom drawer.
"It's in here somewhere" he said as he shifted the coverings and revealed the object he was searching for "ahh, here it is". Aboli drew a long sword from the drawer, a hook was set into one edge of the blade, and there were runes up the side of the blade, and a strange rune upon rune design on the blade just before the handle.
"Freeze, drop it" came an ice cold voice from behind him as something smooth and metal pushed into his skull, Aboli obediently dropped the sword "bloody Summoners, just give us more work than we need"
"Who are you?" asked Aboli
"I am your executioner," replied the voice
"Please don't kill me, at least not before I catch and kill what just escaped"
"What did you summon?"
"I couldn't translate all the demon-script but what I did decipher said that it was Dia-something, lord of something"
"Diablo? You released Diablo! The lord of terror!" the voice had some fear in it now, there was a loud click from the device pressing into the back of his head "I aught to kill you now, but the council would better hear of this"
The person to whom the voice belonged hit Aboli over the head with the butt of her customised pistol, knocking him out for the second time in as many minutes, and the woman, dressed in white jeans with a long, white leather jacket with long wide sleeves and white hair hefted Aboli onto her shoulder and walked out of the house, sealing it with a rune burned into the door and fading out, transporting herself and her load away.
