This is an era of child prostitutes.
Of drug busts and sugar-coated daggers.
A time of man-made lakes
And corporately-run children's shows.

Children of four sit excitedly through
Of blood-splatters and gore, muttering
"Bash in her head!" and "KILL HIM!"
And the parents, smile and nod.

This is a time where no one cares,
And if you do, that's your weakness.
While technology gets better and better
The media's influence gets stronger and stronger.

Now, Hollywood is just a joke
And Bollywood is all the rage.
Independent films are watched
Solely because they are "Independent".

This is a time of Metra graveyards
Of landfill golf courses with old, fat white men.
A century of discriminating looks
And books of words to describe that hate.

If you don't have connections,
Then you don't have the money
And the only way to get the money
Is to pay someone to get connections.

Our society is defined through nothings.
How long you can cut nothing.
How many days you eat nothing.
How often you can have sex and catch nothing.

This is an era of fast food splooge,
Of acid rain and XXX-rated pop ups.
A time of wide screen televisions
And a floundering economy.

And I love it.
