Author's Note: I wrote this a while ago. Last spring, I think. This fall, I submitted it to the school Literary Magazine, and it was accepted. Now, I'm posting it here.

As Time Rolls By
by: Theed
As I look out my window, all I think of is you,
All the problems that we faced and all the conflicts we knew.
I remember times before,
When hearts were wild and dreams soared,
But, now they're gone and time rolls by.
Life used to be so carefree, like a fairytale.
Times when it just was you and me, with an ocean of time to sail.
We grew up, metaphorically,
I went away, but now I see
That mistakes were made as time rolls by.
I was provincial thinking that I could chose my own destiny,
But faith and confidence, they somehow blinded me.
While I was gone it was lonely, like a barren field.
But, I accomplished victory, and things would be healed.
When I returned trouble stuck,
Since then I no longer believe in luck,
Dark times came when time rolled by . . .
In my memories sits a time no one can replace.
A set of three who's ways were split with very little hast.
We left one night to escape it all,
I watched slowly, goodness taking its fall,
We sailed away and time rolls by.
We never say each other again.
And, as for me, I can't remember when
Memories haven't made me cry.
I close my eyes and time rolls by.
