~Requiem for Someday~()

Requiem on piano keys
Chords tinged with
the sourness of age
Choirs singing,
Crying, keening,
But not with sorrow-rage.

The future's laughter
Is no more
All that's heard
Is a deafening roar

Time caught wise,
We could not fool
That which we were
not fit to rule

Thus it came
To our defeat
Blood and bone
Beneath concrete

All that stands
Skeletons now
Of a world that was
To proud to bow

To anything we could not see
To anything we would not believe
We only wanted to be free*
But when the price became too much...

Onward, pushing, no time to notice
How bad things were going,
We were not quite that strong.
And without benefit,
we never will admit,
That we are wrong.

A/N: I'm not sure about *...I think I wanted another word, but
I can't think of it at the moment, eck, last stanza, rhythm off, too
...yeah, kind of odd, but I'm fairly certain I know what I mean...maybe,
well spurr of the moment. Thanks for reading! BTW, feedback would be
SOOOO helpful. Thanks again- 041904
