Gift of Death

Most people fear the end of life,
Not I, I believe it is a gift
To end the burdens of the living,
The breathing, the thinking.
No longer does doubt consume the mind,
Or faith take up half our time.
Death gives us a freedom
That many poeple don't see.
They don't believe me, don't believe.

They think I live a horrible life;
That I'm trying to escape.
Fools are those who look down upon
One who sees through these chains.

Death is a gift that helps me to breath,
To think and to live.
Because I know I will die in the end,
Life seems not so harsh, life is bearable.

I refuse to take my own life,
That is selfish and decieving.
To commit such an act is to be guilty
Of trying to escape. I need not try.

I need not inflict pain upon myself
For life does that deed enough.
Physical pain can not render the
Pain of the conscious mind unconscious.

I this, I begin to live.

Because of my poems, many people think I'm dark and angry, maybe even suicidal, but I'm not. I don't understand how people can inflict pain upon themself or take their own life. I can't do that; I'm to chicken and I hate pain! LOL But, there are people who can, and a lot of times, it's because they feel they've had enough.

Not only is there talk of suicide in my poem, but also the fear of death many people have. I don't fear death, I see it as a gift. Hence, the name of the poem and the poem itself.
