Drift, drift on upon darkened waves

Into a ocean of turmoil and uncertainty

Sail I do, into these uncharted waters

To wander alone through existence’s night

Forsaken somewhere in infinite possibility

I seek answers in chaos undefined

Hunting for truth, for meaning

For ideals long exiled to die in vain

But bound by the cruelty of nature

My search is only kept alive

Through deadened hopes, futile imaginings

Orphaned by those indoctrinated by Reality

Even now, failure seems inevitable

Oblivion drawing near upon the empty horizon

The screams of the lost and forgotten echo

Shrieking colder than the icy depths below

Fighting fear, I grasp those fragments of dreams

Collected shards of fallen ideals

Once shone as bright as the morning’s star

Brilliance, now dying, fading out of sight.

Then

 Suddenly

 I hear something.

Whispering within my heart.

Adamant

Eternal.

Undeniable.

Desiring to be alive

Slivers of expectation I thought perished

Blaze furiously into a marred and blackened sky

Illuminating my darkened eyes.

I stare in wonder with newborn sight

My gaze alighting upon a single brilliant glow

Paths, once obscured before me illuminate

As a day of perfect clarity breaks upon

I take the wind in hand, stirring the breeze

Guiding my destiny across the open seas.
