Persephone

The Patient, A Prologue

A groan of tedium escapes me,
Startling the fearful.
Is this a test? It has to be,
Otherwise I can't go on.
Draining patience, drain vitality.
This paranoid, paralyzed vampire act's a little old.

But I'm still right here
Giving blood, keeping faith
And I'm still right here.

Wait it out,
Gonna wait it out,
Be patient (wait it out).

If there were no rewards to reap,
No loving embrace to see me through
This tedious path I've chosen here,
I certainly would've walked away by now.

Gonna wait it out.

“Persephone?”

“Yes, my lord?”

Lucian's thin, pale lips quirked into a smile. “Ah, Persephone. Always so proper.” At current, dark haired Persephone sat behind the vampire Lucian on a bed of the finest silk and lace, running a golden brush through Lucian's golden hair.

“Yes, my lord...” Fair skinned Persephone answered softly.

“You can go out tomorrow, Persephone,” Lucian said boredly, waving violet eyed Persephone's hands away. “I was going to let you go out tonight,” He said, turning on the bed to face slight figured Persephone. “And I was going to go out tonight...”

His smile spread as he gently pushed a will-less Persephone back onto the bed. “But I had a change of... Heart.” And Lucian laughed at this, his own sick, twisted joke.

Long lashed Persephone willed his mind to think of anything else. Anything but Lucian's cold, heartless blue eyes. Anything but Lucian's harsh, demanding touch. Anything but Lucian's draining, crimson kiss.

He didn't want this... He didn't think he ever had. But, then... He didn't know. He couldn't remember. Lucian had told him it had always been like this, but long haired Persephone could not remember.

But his mind would stray. To... Snow. In his mind's eye, sad eyed Persephone saw himself, not trudging through, but walking in and amongst the snow. He was always going somewhere.

...

Walking.

...

But to where? A warm light. But it wasn't the sun. Sickly pale Persephone could not remember.

...

Wandering.

...

But where? It was-

Lost Persephone let out a harsh gasp as he felt Lucian's fangs pierce his skin, as cold as steel. Colder than... The snow.

Broken Persephone felt his very life being drained out of him, the liquids of his veins dissipating, disintegrating....

All for Lucian.

And he didn't want this. He had never wanted this. But Lucian had told him it had always been this way. And... Lucian wouldn't lie to him...

Would he?

...

Falling.

...

The light was gone, ripped away buy the cold, swallowing void that was darkness. Everything around him fell to the void; shattered in a million pieces... Of... Glass?

...

Falling.

...

But to where? To... To the void of unconsciousness. A void, blind to tears, mute to screams, deaf to rape, and most importantly... Numb to pain.

But... He had never wanted this. But Lucian had said... He had... Said... Lies?

It had always... Been like this?

...

Torn.

...

It had always... Been this way?

...
Walking.

...

But to where? He couldn't remember.

...

Falling.

...

There had to be something other than... This...

...

Broken.

...

But... What?

...

Draining.

...

Was this really it?

...

Empty.

...

If there were no desire to heal
The damaged and broken met along
This tedious path I've chosen here
I certainly would've walked away by now.

And I still may ...

... I still may.

Be patient.
I must keep reminding myself of this.

And if there were no rewards to reap,
No loving embrace to see me through
This tedious path I've chosen here,
I certainly would've walked away by now.
And I still may.

Gonna wait it out.

:/ It'll make more sense as we go. ;-; I have been dying to name some one Lucian, isn't that right, Crys? x.X I will now call you very scary berry lady. :D Whee! :/ This was a prologue, and a reflection of Persephone's thoughts.

The italicized words are copy written to Tool, off their Lateralus CD, track 03, The Patient. :/ I in no way claim any of it, other than the fact that I just typed it. X.x Ya.

(After taking this down, I am now reposting it. ^^ Hopefully it will prompt me to write more... x.x; Hopefully... --;)
