A/N: I'll happily admit to there being clichés cause everythings clichéd. But all the stuff is how I feel what I've seen or gone through. It's just a good way of venting. Give it a chance though. Thanks to the three who reviewed. Hope you find this bit a little better.

Chapter 1

Somewhere down in Fullerton

there's a place we used to go

to get away from it all

So please don't go away

Won't this feeling

stay with me forever

forever, I said

"please don't go away

I just want you to

stay with me forever"

Forever, I said

"please don't go away

Won't this feeling

stay with me forever"

Forever, I said

"please don't go away

cause all I want is

you to stay with me"

Adam and Anna sluggishly walked the familiar route to C.U.E.K to open up for the day. It was just after 8. They had both woken up early and decided to open up. With it being summer vacation they liked to try and be open for 10. They'd both had a hard time sleeping over the last week anyway. The whole community had been distraught about Mike, Amber's older brother. He was in a coma after a bad car accident.

Everyone was worried about Amber she was obviously hurting. She was close to Mike; they were left alone a lot of time as her parents were always on business trips or at the office. Mike's accident hadn't brought them closer together either. They had just grown so far apart that now, when things were really hard, there was no base for communication. Her parents just took everything in and were so. cold about it.

As they reached the home straight to the house, they saw a lone figure on the bottom step just sitting looking at the ground. It was Amber. Just like it had been every morning. She didn't seem to go home anymore, she went to the hospital until they wouldn't let her then she'd just walk to C.U.E.K and wait. It was worrying for them all but she seemed to refuse to go directly to the twins or Ender. She didn't want to be a burden on anyone.

The heavy feeling in Anna's stomach got worse as she saw Amber. She wished she could have more power over the world, only to make things better for her best friend. It was killing her seeing Amber so sad and distant. Looking at Adam she felt a wave of fear. If that were Adam lying in a coma, she wouldn't be able to handle it. They were the one person in two bodies, they were linked. And if he hurt, she hurt and vice versa but if her were to.

"Do you think she's eaten or slept this week?" Adam asked quietly as they were still out of range.

Anna sighed, "I don't think so. We can try and get her to talk. I think we should call Ender too."

Adam nodded but said nothing as Anna sat next to Amber while he went to unlock the door.

Anna gently nudged the blonde, "Hey."

Amber pulled her gaze up to her friend and gave a silent greeting. "Sorry. I just keep ending up here."

Anna followed her instinct and pulled Amber into a hug. Amber immediately took comfort from the embrace.

"You don't have to wait here, you can come to our place anytime, day or night." Anna told her as they pulled apart.

"Thanks. I just. I can't stand being there." She said with guilt evident in her voice.

"There still no change?" Anna asked as they walked up to the porch.

Amber shook her head.

Adam stood at the now open door with his arms wide open. "Where's my hug?" He asked with mock seriousness.

Amber forced a small smile not wanting to be rude and was quickly enveloped in a bear hug from Adam. He kissed the top of her head and followed her inside.

Anna watched the fragile form of Amber walking threw the door. She looked awful, like she would just sink into the wall at any minute.

"When was the last time you slept? Or had something to eat?" She asked.

Amber avoided eye contact; she was a really bad liar. "I'm fine. Don't worry."

Adam and Anna glanced at each other knowing it was a lie. "Come on up stairs. You can get a little sleep then we'll get some breakfast." Anna told her.

As she opened her mouth to argue, Adam put his hand over her mouth and led her towards the stairs. "It'll do you some good. Plus, Anna is willing to be your slave. That opportunity doesn't arise very often." He said as he winked at her.

Amber gave a sullen nod. "But. if anyone calls-"

Anna interrupted, "We'll wake you straight away."

Adam put out his hand, "Give me your cell, I'll keep it on me the whole time." He said reassuringly.

Amber passed it over, "Thanks."

He smiled at her then went to clean up.

Anna took Amber's hand and took her up stairs. Anna quickly put on the CD player and set 'Konstantine' by Something Corporate on repeat. She needed something that would keep Amber relaxed, help her clear her mind and Konstantine was that song.

They both sat down on a sofa then Anna grabbed a pillow and put it on her lap. "Lie down." She said as she patted the pillow.

Amber done as she was told and stared up the ceiling, which was covered with literally hundreds of glow in the dark stars. The room was still pretty dark as Anna hadn't opened the shutters or put on any lights.

Anna stroked Amber's hair, "what's going on in there?" She asked.

Amber kept her stare on the stars for a few moments until she burst into tears.

Anna couldn't help but feel relieved. Her best friend was hurting and at least now she knew that Amber was letting go. It really worried her how much Amber would lock up her feelings just because she didn't want to be a burden on anyone.

Amber curled up into the foetal position and was gripping onto Anna's shirt. Anna gently rubbed Amber's back and laid her head on Amber's. She eventually cried herself to sleep.
