Spotlights

And she stares with weepy

heavy lidded eyes

into a world of plastic

and woes that are saccharine

the world slips away into nothingness and all,

all is lost to her

except in that moment

she sees herself in a spotlight

and she smiles at it

because it's never happened before

and then the light turns out

all goes dark

and she cries another night.
