The Unknown Outside
Chapter 1 Free
A young girl slips out of her house in the darkness. Her name is Rose. She has never been allowed outside, never been allowed to run freely in the fresh air. She runs quickly away from her green house, her loose black t-shirt flapping in the wind.
She looks back at her house.
“They won’t catch me this time,” Rose said to herself “No, way.”
She kept on running. After awhile she started breathing harder and thought about taking a rest.
“Got to keep on going. Must get farther or they’ll find me,” said Rose taking a breath between every word.
She kept on running until she put a safe distant between her and her family. She sat down and took off her black back bag and set it down in front of her. She rummaged through it looking for one of her water bottles and took a short drink.
“Ahhhh. What a run. Surprised I didn’t trip on anything, ” said Rose still talking to herself. “Huh. Wonder what should I do now? Ah! I know. I should find some shelter,” said Rose while pulling out a small flashlight.
The young girl turned on the flashlight, put her back bag on, and started searching for a suitable place to live. She hadn’t looked long until she found a small cave.
“Not bad,” said Rose her voice echoing in the cave. “Not bad at all. The ground is very soft here.”
“Man, I’m hungry and tired. I better wait until breakfast to eat. I couldn’t pack much food in that stupid bag. But I can take care of the tired problem,” said Rose has she laid down, her black clothes blending to the darkness of the cave.
“Oh! Nearly forgot about the flashlight. Better turn it off,” said Rose as she reached into her pocket and turned the flashlight off.
“Now I can go to sleep,” said Rose as she closed her eyes and was soon asleep.
