Wait Until Dark

A.N.This was written in a terror induced state after watching the classic thriller ‘Wait Until Dark’…

Locked in

Blindly I stumble through the closet

Outstretched arms to guide my steps

A trembling hand rests on a someone

Someone who’s succumbed to death

A silent scream rises in my throat

At finding an unsuspecting victim

Murdered brutally and stashed in my bedroom closet

I fumble at the doorknob

Glazed eyes fail to find the latch

Hyperventilating

Panic takes control

As I search for an immediate exit

A damp scarf snakes around my pulsing throat

Oxygen catches in my lungs

And moist fingertips dance around my neck

I dare not move, though terror bids me do so

Sharp pain, and then a trickling liquid soon decides my fate

As I join my other unsuspecting victim

And the murderer waits again for one more sacrifice
