THE SINGER FAMILY
By: Mercury Angel II (Annie Chen)
CHAPTER 3
Section 1: Christina
This afternoon, I invited Michelle to come to my house. We talked about how we are going to solve the problem with money. I think I should go find a job. If there is still no money, we can borrow some from our uncle. Charlie said he would help me too. We also decided to sell some of the furniture and things we have, such as television, tables, chairs, games, etc. My brother and I made a lot of money. I think these should be enough for our family before I get a job.
Section 2: Charlie
Here's some good news. After a couple weeks, my sister finally got a job working in Old Navy. She works three hours during the weekdays, and eight hours on the weekends. The company pays her ten dollars per hour because she works very hard. Maybe Christina isn't a bad sister after all.
Not only my sister works, I also go to work everyday. I often work at Ben's backyard and wash his father's car. Sometimes I baby sit my neighbors' little kids. In the winter, I shoveled snow for my neighbors'. They all pay me about five dollars per hour. Although I don't earn much money as my sister, I have been saving for two months, and I got more than six hundred dollars!
Thanks to my uncle, Mom finally recovered. Mom was very impressed by Christina and me. She cried when we told her that we got all the money by ourselves. Mom was soon able to go back to work, but now she doesn't have to work alone. My sister and I would never let this happen again. We are a family, and families are supposed to take care of each other.
Everything went well in school. I got every subject A and am very proud of myself. Ben and I became best friends; I knew it. My sister went to Harvard University. I am very proud that I have a smart sister. Michelle went to Harvard as well. Later they became best friends.
I still miss dad, but not as much as before. I had grown up and am old enough to be brave. I understand that dad will not come back, but he will always lives in my heart, and his love and the memories will stay. I think my sister feels the same way too. Sometimes, I wonder what dad would think of me, if he can see me now. One time Mom said to me, "I wish your daddy could see you and your sister now. He would be very proud of you!" That's what I think too.
