Fearful Stranger
Scattered bones
And broken hearts
Lay upon the warped ground
Where no grass dare grow
Roots like black veins run along the surface
Underneath there is nothing
No light, no air, no sight, no care
Only the darkness that wraps around the truth
That hides away, and steals your children while you sleep
What is this awful place?
Is this place the hell so many speak of?
Is this a world of demons, of heat?
Look into my eyes dear stranger
What do you see?
The stranger replied so calmly, 'I see myself.'
I knew this was a lie, for he shook and did not notice he was doing so
Fear creped up into his eyes, slowly like a stalking lion
He wanted to run
To be far away from me
The question left to answer,
What was in my eyes?
The answer is simple my dear
Nothing.
