Navy Blue Night

The night- arriving in a velvet cape
Studded by the rhinestone stars: glittering, glistening
Cheap and priceless entertainment
For the fools and their telescopes
No matter how much you look, you can't touch

Streets glow, enlightened by the moon and
The streetlamps- see the halo of light
Yellow and white and quite a sight
Different from the plain old everyday
Navy blue, already painted on the skies

Dive into the pool of the sky
It looks just like the ocean, doesn't it?
Deep and dark and monotonic blue
Dye it red with the city lights, burning through the night
Drown the stars in their shame

Of all the colors, choose the darkest
The one almost fading to black
Dip the sky into the navy blue dye
Tainted with light and insight,
The night- arriving in a velvet cape
