Shadowed Figures

A part of me stands still,
As I sleep, it wakes.
Breathing as if for the first time.
Writhing and twisting; with it, my dream shakes.

No longer is reality real,
or the mirages illusions.
This other me is everything,
makes half the truths confusions.

The fantasies take hold.
They wake as I sleep.
Seeing what we cannot fathom.
Dancing and singing; with them, my mind weeps.

No longer are the tears I let forth
comprised of sorrow or despair,
but a relief encompasses
the feelings and thoughts that dare.
