Dusting Faeries

sweep the insides of your mind

with smiles and faerie dust

maybe if you think happy thoughts

you’ll be carried away from this place

*

never land seems so far away

so far I can barely

imagine (away)

*

away on a sea

of helpless dreams

and screams of agony

whispered wishes to the moon

take me away/to your world of cheese faeries

twinkle toes, your smiling face/seems so welcoming

//why won’t you take me?//

//why can’t you take me?//

*

purloined madness

off of raspberry walls

(the colour is rich and cream so intoxicating)

so wonderful it makes me sick

too much of goodness is bad for me

but is too much of badness…

good?

*

morphing megawarriors that will always protect me

(…like the dinosaurs in my dreams)

dwarfed in their presence (like a tiny fiscal rose, paid by the dozens, satisfied by words)

empty, empty words //so hollow//

resounding in the chaos

resounding in the silence

just like…

an

echo

*

apparently these myths of lore do not desert me

tales of princes, queens, and war

a love forgotten by the gods, incestuous and steeped in purgatory

generations upon generations of spinning by the lamplight, by the bonfire, by the Beltane…

an ancient ritual only the free could understand

a celebration that would be condemned today, in our world of

shriveling morality and lost chivalry, disguised evils and nonexistent respect

(when did these stories become so complex?)

*

…but it seems to fit us just as well, a people of complexities

of busy schedules and premeditated love at first sight…

a world where the only jungle is of concrete and hard planes…

no longer the everlasting stretch and curve of piece-blue sky…

our candy cotton clouds have turned to a gray foggy mist,

our wonderland--a hell of external, internal torment

*

(…so simple?)
