Your rules bore me
Can't you see the sparkle in my
eyes- dancing and laughing and
always looking to the ground
You thought your restrictions would
pent me up inside myself forever
Little snips at the rope might make it
break, tear, maybe I'd back down
But I don't need your ropes to climb
Better watch out, I might jump
Off the cliff you thought was
The End of the World- the earth is no plane, and your
metal wings will be my downfall
Tumble, toss, spiral down to the rocky bottom
I much prefer my weightlessness
That light feeling you get- you know
when you know you've won
Open the cage of lies and tricks,
songbirds can't sing when there's thunder
Let me go; your fingers crush me
Doubt me all you want, but the world will see me fly
just set me free- once and for the last time
Don't you underestimate me- what does
"last time" mean to you?
Watch me as I spread my wings and fly
