It's hard to explain who Stephen Merlot really is...he's been changing between the three personalities for so many years that it almost doesn't matter who he was in the beginning. It didn't matter anymore, he was who he was.

When he had first been turned into a vampire is when Deacon first appeared, strongly. Before that he had just been the asshole that was in everyone. For 100 years he was killing people, it was pretty bad and then somehow it happened that he changed. He fought his way out of the insane one and into Marlo, who was a little saner. He wasn't perfect by far, but better then killing, he refused to kill, just took a little, enough for him to stay. Marlo stayed around for another 100 before he too slipped away; 200 years and there two of them. And even then, there was Deacon in the back, talking. Stephen took over, and he was the cute one.

He modeled for a while, but then the demon took over, trying to push Stephen out and Deacon back in control. Deacon was already a monster, both Marlo and Stephen understood what a demon in addition to a crazy vampire could do and both fought, for a long time, about 50 years. And then Jer came around along and Stephen found solace in his comfort. He took the demon away and made Deacon go away for a while too. And then he left.

It had hurt so badly to be helped and then he was left. The anger that had built up made Stephen shirk back and Marlo get out. He took on a job as a car salesman and played the game as the asshole that he is. And then there was Gabe. She ended up being his downfall, he really fell for her, but it wasn't him. It was Stephen and again, it was the voices, one fighting against the other. Deacon killed people, Marlo was gay and Stephen wasn't...it's hard to describe it all...Deac thought it was funny when Marlo was beaten out by the nicer one. But Gabe disappeared, he can't find her...and it hurts.

Stephen was with Emma, she brought him out, and she kept him out. He had always liked her, though truth be told, the other two, they didn't know her. It's why Marlo reacted the way he did, he didn't know who she was. Strange thing, the boys could keep things from each other. The master knew, but the master knew a lot. Getting beaten like that made him change, made him switch personalities. So now Stephen is in France, on deGrazzi property. Much to the dislike of the dislike of the other two, he's there, meeting with someone that's a friend or maybe in need of one...
