Naughty Girl

Chapter 23

Karen reluctantly let him in and shut the door. “What isn’t?”

“Marcel. He’s in custody and you got the charges to stick but it isn’t over. Donaldson wants you to complete the case all the way through, and then maybe he’ll see about letting you ago.” Alex explained as he looked around her home.

“What else is left?”

“The transport. Marcel is a big risk, the government want the best watching him, you were requested to be part of the opt since you sealed the case.” Alex detailed now focusing his eyes on Karen.

She crossed her arms. “That sounds too simple, Donaldson made it sound like I had to go to hell and back.”

“I’m just the messenger.”

“Since when do you work under Donaldson?” Kevin asked as he joined them. He was going to let Karen conduct her meeting alone but when he recognized the voice he came out.

“My commander pulled some strings so I could follow this case through. Until farther notice I work for Donaldson.” Alex said.

Karen scoffed. “So easy, you didn’t go through the hell the rest of us did. And you shouldn’t be anywhere near this case.” she tightly said.

“And why’s that?”

Karen saw the challenge in his eyes, she grinned. “I still don’t trust you and I stand by my gut feeling; something is fishy about how you handled the case till I came along,” she answered.

“What do you mean?” Kevin asked.

“She thinks I threw the case because I enjoyed the cover more then making an arrest.” Alex explained with his eyes on her. “You’re right about something though, transporting is too easy, and Donaldson has another case for you.”

Kevin stepped between the two because it seemed as if any second Karen was going to hit Alex. “The Morgenstern case?” he asked him.

“Good guess.”

“I talked it over with Donaldson this morning, Karen fits the agent needed.” Kevin explained. He knew Karen was going to have to handle the case no one else on the team could. “Will you helping on that case too?”

“Something like that.” Alex answered. “There’s a meeting tonight, that’s when all the details will be explained.”

“I have to work with you? Hell no.” Karen said walking away to another spot in the room.

“We don’t make the rules and you have a lot riding on this. I’ll leave you two alone now.” Alex left as quickly as he had come.

Karen waited until the door was shut before she screamed. “Ugh! When did this become so hard? I loved my job, every second of it but now the thought of working another case sickens me.” She expressed as she sat down on the sofa.

Kevin sat beside her. “I have to ask, does your sudden change of heart have anything to do with me?”

Karen looked at him and considered his sudden question. “I’ll admit after we got together I saw things differently. I found something I wanted more then making a case. I wanted you and I couldn’t have you. I realized the job is my life, just wasted time because it leaves me with nothing. I want to be more, I want a life out of the shadows.” She emotionally explained. It was just as if one morning it all changed; she didn’t like who she saw in the mirror.

Kevin pulled her into a hug. “Everything has a way of working out the way we want.”

“Promise?”

“Yes. This Marcel mess will be over before you know it. I came by to tell you this but we got side tracked. The papers you found on Marcel and gave me came back from the lab, there was something on them. If your method doesn’t stand up in court this will, it’s enough for an open and shut case.” Kevin explained as he continued to hold her.

“So we did good?”

“We always do. And this case with Alex, is shouldn’t be that bad or long. He’s good at what he does Karen.” Kevin wanted to let her know, he trusted Alex and it bothered him to se her so upset over him.

Karen pulled away from his grasp and stood from her seat. “Do you want some coffee?” she nearly rushed to the kitchen because she didn’t want him to see her upset. She hated what she was feeling; pouting because the man in her life didn’t take her side.

He followed her into the kitchen. “What’s bothering you?”

“Nothing worth talking about.” She looked out her kitchen window as an escape, she knew it was better to be honest but not this time she decided, she didn’t want to ruin the good morning they were having. “For now it seems I’m stuck with Donaldson for two more jobs, what should we do? Keep hiding?” she turned around and looked at him. “Or should I tell him we’re together and see if he fires me?”

“I don’t think he’ll fire you and I think it’s better if we wait to say anything.”

“Ok then we wait. I don’t mind either way, my parents know so that’s enough.” Karen expressed. As she changed the subject she began to feel better, she decided a disagreement over Alex wasn’t enough to be angry over.

Kevin stepped closer to her as she leaned against the counter. “Are we ok now?”

“If I say we’re not, what are you willing to do?”

“What do you want me to do?”

She grinned. “Oh no, I can’t tell you that. You have to figure it out.”

Kevin slipped his hand under her shirt and trailed his hand down her warm skin; he reached around her back and unsnapped her bra. He brought his hand back to her front and ran his fingers along her nipples. “Better?”

Karen inhaled sharply as he continued; she grasped the edge of the counter for support. “Good…but not great.”

“Hmm I have to fix that.” Kevin unsnapped her jeans then bent down to pull them off. he rested his hand on her hips as he kneeled before her, planting a kiss over the V of her panties. He ran his hands down her hips and brought her panties down as he went.

“Kevin.” She gasped. “You didn’t have to go that far.”

“Shhh.” He said along her thighs. As he stood up, he slipped his hand between her legs and met her eyes. He leaned into her as she arched her back; he planted soft kisses along her neck. He stopped and she whimpered.

He wrapped her naked legs around his waist; she pulled off his shirt as he carried her over to the table. He sat her on the top of the table top, grabbing her legs and pulling her on to him.

“Oh…my…god.” Escaped her mouth.

He continued to plunge into her body until they both reached their highs. With little strength he had left he grabbed her and pulled her down to the floor with him.

“What are we doing?” Karen asked as she sat on top of his lap.

“Resting.”

“You deserve it.” She said as she ran her hands along his chest. “You know all I really was looking for was a kiss.” She leaned down and planted one on his lips. “But I liked your idea more.”
