"Sweet Dreams"
by Damascus Ochre
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Gentle rise
Perfect fall
Your heart beats
Steadily
And I watch you in your slumber
Awake to dream of sweet candy canes
Peppermint and purple licorice
The clouds overhead stream by
In cotton candy clusters
Raining orange soda and strawberry shakes
Your lips curve
A soft smile
Tasting fragile sugar lace
Syrup down your stubborn chin
Dripping
Dripping
Falling down your front
Skipping through fields of gumdrops
Giggling, dancing, swinging me round and round
On an endless merry-go-round of bubblegum flakes
You trip, fall, stumble down across the floor
Copper crimson melds molasses
The sugar-coated pain of dreams
Confusion etches your features
Dusted with pixie sugar dust
Colors swirl before your eyes
Lips opening in a careless whimper
But sweet chocolate fills your senses
And your vision clears with smiles again
The laugh returns
Clears away your fears, your tears
And you leave me broken.

This poem was written in Paris, the day before my mom got there, I do
believe, or the very day. I was drawing part of my original manga/doujinshi
thingy, so I came up with this poem b/c I was drawing a pic of a little boy
sleeping, his older brother about to kiss him goodnight. Sweet
dreams...literally. ^-^
