IN THE DARKNESS WITH A SONG
There was a man who braved the rain,
Who faced the darkness and the shame,
Who went abroad to there proclaim.
There was a man deserving fame.
There was a man who had a dream,
Who traveled far through starlight's gleam,
Who made the words he spoke there sing.
There was a man who made words ring.
There was a man who found a place,
Who found the place an empty space,
Who had a smile leave his face.
There was a man who lost the chase.
There was a man who cried a tear,
Who braved the darkness and the fear,
Who found that no one else was near.
There was a man who found no cheer.
There was a place that a man found,
That pained his ears with not a sound,
That made him look upon the ground.
There was a place where no one was around.
There was a place where no one was,
And the man knew not what was the cause,
That hid darkly from the bright stars.
There was a place where no man does.
There was a man who stood all alone,
Who split the silence with a groan,
Who groaned in saddest, soulful tone.
There was a man who wished for home.
I am the man who braved the fear,
I am the man who cried a tear.
I found the place without a cheer.
And now I call, "is no one here?"
I am the man who went alone,
To brave the darkness with a song.
