TWO SIDES
(To every story)
Stephanie.
LOST, TOTALLY LOST, I stared at the huge hallway trying to get my bearings. The final countdown had begun a mere four days ago to the first day of high school. Now here I was, with no friends, and no clue as to where I was supposed to go.
Suddenly I got pushed from behind, my bag flew off my shoulder and its contents scattered every where, ricocheting off the lockers. Everybody seemed to be trampling on my things, in their rush to get to where ever they are going, even the other freshman seemed to know where they were going and they'd only been here one more day than I had.
"Do you need some help?" offered a concerned voice from behind me. Sighing with relief I turned round to my helper, ready to thank the person of which the voice belongs too. Slowly and confidently I turned to face him.
And found myself face-to-face with one of the most handsome guys I had ever seen if not the most. His ocean blue eyes twinkled in amusement, and his grin seemed to take over his whole face.
"Are you new here?" offered the guy with a slight hint of amusement, because still I had not managed to find my voice to answer this gift from God with.
"Yes" I retorted quite too sharply. Thinking he was having a laugh at my expense.
"Hey, I'm being nice here, I don't have to help you out! And from what I can see, no one else is queuing up to help you out either."
"Well then, I wouldn't want to put you out." I exclaimed. I can't believe he just said that, what does he want me to do? Get on my knees and thank him. How full of himself does he want to get?
"Fine then, suit yourself, I'm sorry I asked." He said, clearly irritated that I wasn't hanging on his every word and was answering back, that's the problem with guys this fit, they themselves know how fit they are and get really big headed.
"Yo Sammy Boy," He turned round at the sound of his name, ignoring me completely. He sighed,
"How many times do I tell ya man, my names Sam. You know how much I hate that nickname."
I looked over his shoulder and saw a big gang of jocks and cheerleaders making their way down the corridor. "Whatever man! I mean I know you love it really. Anyway a few of us are off to 'Burger Heaven', you riding?" hollered a big-built footballer with hazelnut brown eyes that you could fine your self-falling into. But with the cheerleader wrapped round him, in a football jacket, that one can assume is his, it doesn't take a genius to know that he's already spoken for.
The group of people started to make their way over, they hadn't noticed me yet and I wanted to disappear before they did.
"Well, it was lovely to meet you" I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm.
"Right back at ya," he said, his voice copying my tone. I turned my back to him and made my way to the cafeteria, because freshmen weren't allowed off-campus lunch privileges. As I walked away I could feel eyes burning into my back, when I turned around I was shocked to see it was Sam, as soon as I caught his eye he turned away and focused on his friends.
I was already through half of my day and I still didn't know where any thing was, this morning I had be given directions to the headmasters office and nowhere else, but as it turns out I was in the office all morning, well that's if you can call it an office. It was a small room that was so stuffy and uncomfortable.
As I sat in that stuffy little room listening to Mr. Lerner drone on about the high standards of which the school expect each and every student to uphold. I was so bored and couldn't wait for the day to end. By the time they got all my forms, records and classes sorted out it was lunchtime.
As I rounded the corner to the cafeteria I bumped into someone coming out.
"Sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going, you all right?" asked a friendly voice.
"Yeah, I'm fine." I retorted a bit too harshly. Quickly I dashed into the cafeteria. Once I got my food I had to find some where to sit, I glanced around. The tables were all filled to overflowing with kids, talking, yelling, laughing and generally having a good time. Everybody looked like they belonged, but they all did, in the small town in which Kennedy high was situated, it is unusual for people to move. Therefore most of the people at school already belonged to there own certain group and most likely have been in that group since the beginning of their school years, if not earlier. It is such an interesting, busy place to live, yet has an air of tranquillity about it.
I went outside and found a bench all on its own outside and decided to sit out there, in the sun where it was warm and unusually quiet to say how sunny it was. That way I didn't have to force my way onto a crowded table filled with kids who don't want to talk to me, anyway it was really peaceful outside, so I didn't mind being on my own. Once I finished, my rather unappealing lunch, of what was supposed to be macaroni and cheese. No wonder people either seemed to leave the school campus or bring their own lunch. I set about to locate my first class of the day, (which also happened to be everybody else's forth class,) to ensure that I wouldn't be late.
By the time I found the classroom the first bell had already gone. I went inside and took a seat, and got ready for the lesson to begin. As the teacher talked, my mind drifted back to my encounter with Sam. He really was cute, but man, he seriously needed to work on the personality.
