Alter-Ego

Creeping softly through my life,

Like a virus, you try to alter,

The thoughts inside their heads,

Yet in your steps I begin to falter.

Where you see a lover,

I just see a friend,

His hand in yours is not enough,

This life is just pretend.

My crimson tears fall at your feet,

As my heart bleeds in sacrifice,

His face appears between us

My friend, ‘I love you’ won’t surfice.
