"A Poem Before I Die, A Poem About Life"
by Damascus Ochre

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want to write a poem
In these last moments of life
I want to write a poem
Right before I die

A poem about all that lives
And follows hopeful dreams
A poem that explains and reasons
The science in between

But fingers snap and wrists fall broken
These last thoughts become lost tokens
As shadows and the night perceive
The lies my word and phrase deceive.

Before sleep. Took rest at home when got back from Target after finishing
my Jamba Juice, woke b/c of my brother, then slept again till 8 or so. Read
parts of Drawing Blood again, took a shower, then read Rimbaud's beautiful
work and bookmarked some poems for Poetry Café assignment that we're
presenting/doing by what Madrid hopes will be Wed, but no later than Fri
(A/N [2004.05.24, Monday] we did it on Friday). Tired, semi- b/c of nap,
and not feeling completely lucid right now, though it feels that way.
Confusing; my brain probly just hurts. Well, ja ne.

A/N [2004.05.24, Monday]: We were talking about sleep meaning death in our
English class. I find it interesting that this poem is almost the other way
around. ^-^
